The project

Particip.AGE is an Erasmus+ project that aims to foster social inclusion for ageing individuals with intellectual disabilities by developing e-training for both the professionals who support them and the individuals themselves to aid in their social integration.

The context

People with intellectual disabilities are living longer due to advancements in medicine and technology, but this increased lifespan also raises their risk of secondary health issues related to ageing and their disabilities. They often face medical, functional, and psychosocial challenges decades earlier than others, which places significant emotional and financial strain on them and their families. This dual vulnerability affects their social inclusion, health, and quality of life, increasing their need for support as they age. Particip.AGE aims to improve their community and social inclusion by raising awareness of their rights and enhancing service provider skills thereby, contributing to their inclusion and fostering a more inclusive community approach.
